The process
I treat every dance event as a story told through movement, and my work starts long before the first frame. I study the choreography, review the lighting plot, and follow the emotional arc of each piece, because understanding the narrative comes first.
During a live performance I work quietly, waiting for each peak: the apex of a leap, the tension in an outstretched arm, the breath between movements where a dancer’s face shows raw emotion. My black-and-white style strips away colour and leaves only form, shadow, and feeling. I talk with dancers and choreographers before the event, so I know which moments matter most to them.
The result is more than documentation. Each image holds the heartbeat of that night: the sweat, the grace, the electricity in the room. Dance is fleeting, but the emotion behind it lives on in the photographs.
